The Little Sheep Who Counted the Stars

On a wide, quiet meadow where the grass swayed like whispers, lived a little sheep named Luna.

Luna was gentle and kind, but every night she faced the same problem.

She couldn’t fall asleep.

She would curl up, close her eyes, and try very hard —
but sleep never seemed to come.

🌙 A Restless Night

The moon rose slowly.
Crickets began their songs.
Other sheep were already dreaming.

Luna sighed and looked up at the sky.

“So many stars,” she whispered.
“They look calm… maybe they know how to sleep.”

⭐ Counting the Stars

Luna decided to try something new.

“One star,” she said softly.
“Two stars… three stars…”

Each star twinkled gently, as if smiling back at her.

As she counted, her breathing slowed.
Her thoughts became quiet.
The night felt warmer.

✨ The Stars Listen

Suddenly, one star shimmered brighter than the rest.

“Why are you counting us?” the star asked kindly.

“I’m trying to fall asleep,” Luna replied.
“My mind feels busy.”

The star glowed softly.

“Then don’t hurry,” it said.
“Just notice us.”

🌌 Learning to Wonder

Luna stopped counting and simply watched.

She noticed how some stars blinked slowly.
Others sparkled playfully.
The sky felt endless and safe.

Her eyes grew heavy.
Her body relaxed.

She didn’t even realize when she stopped looking.

💤 A Star-Filled Dream

Luna drifted into sleep, dreaming of floating among the stars,
soft and light, wrapped in silver clouds.

The meadow stayed quiet.
The stars kept shining.

And Luna slept peacefully through the night.

🌼 Moral of the Story

  • Calm comes when we slow our thoughts
  • Wonder helps the mind rest
  • Sleep arrives when we stop trying too hard
